UMEC Upgrades Wallet Line for Major Pharmaceutical Company
A major pharmaceutical company purchased an existing wallet line to be modified to run another customer’s product. A short delivery time was needed to realize cost savings. The card sealer, card folder, cartoner and case packer were modified along with new change parts and safety upgrades. Fully automatic functions on the wallet formation were designed to eliminate manual operation. Making these modifications will eliminate 30 manual workers and were completed in 4 months. This is more cost efficient and timely than building a new line. Summary of Modifications:
Card Sealer
- Add automated blister loading
- Design change parts for new products
- Design 3 new camera inspection stations
- Design printer mounts
- Provide printing of lot and expiration date
- Upgrade all electrical controls and HMI
Card Folder
- Design change parts for new products
- Add leaflet glue and place station
- Add reject station with verification
- Upgrade HMI
Cartoner
- Redesign to load wallets into an open top display carton
- Design loading mechanisms to accommodate new carton
- Design change parts for new products
- Add glue station to retrofit a large fold-up display flap
- Upgrade HMI
Casepacker
- Design change parts for new case size
- Design carton stacking features to load new cartons into the case
- Upgrade HMI
